Forthcoming publication of Dr. Steeve Coupeau's “Legacy of the Haitian Slave Revolt” in The Encyclopedia of Slave Resistance and   Rebellion, Junius P. Rodriguez, Ed. Westport, CT: Greenwood Publishing Group.

On 15 November 2005, Dr. Steeve Coupeau delivered a paper entitled "Promoting the Culture of Peace in Haiti" following the screening of "Human Rights in Haiti" by producer Isabelle Abric. This event was part of the Columbia Human Rights Film Series, which is a project of the Center for the Study of Human Rights, the Undergraduate Human Rights Program and the Human Rights Institute of Columbia University.

NYIHA Advocacy News sponsored a commemorative advertisement in the commemorative booklet published in June 2005   by the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture on the occasion of the retirement of NYIHA's legal adviser, Charles Horwitz.

Racism and racial discrimination are deep-rooted, though not institutionalized, in Guatemala. The situation is characterized by the non-egalitarian development of Ladino population and of indigenous peoples and people of African descent, illustrating the structural and systemic nature of discrimination.
